We’ve been using our trusty drone a lot over the last year and felt to show some of the amazing footage it enables us filmmakers to capture in our corporate videos.

Upon acquiring my shiny new DJI Mavic pro, I promptly set what must be some sort of record:  4 hours after going from the store directly to a job, I had totalled it  into a large gumtree. Turns out flying sideways creates great footage but does introduce a sizable element risk. Aparently this must be an occupational hazard of owning and flying drones,  as I stacked it again just a couple of weeks ago (see the crash in all it’s glorious detail in the video below).

One key way to create interesting photographs or film is to shoot from a vantage point that is unusual or out of the ordinary. Most of us view the world from our standing height and we become very used to this viewpoint. Getting a low or high angle always makes for an interesting shot. This is why drone footage is so powerful and has taken the world by storm in recent times. It’s the ultimate high vantage point.

It offers a birds-eye view of the world that never ceases to impress.

We use drone video footage to establish a scene, give an interesting vantage point, up the production quality  and simply add some wow factor to our corporate videos. It’s a lot of fun flying  as well and how cool is it that drones are actually part of our job description. Gotta love all the toys in this business.

So, enjoy some of the highlights and lowlights from the past year of shooting corporate videos in and around Brisbane. (yes, the drone was recording as we crashed!)
