Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards 2016
Recently I had both the pleasure and honour of photographing the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards (LMBA).
The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards is a marquee event on the Brisbane social calendar, with around 600 off Brisbane’s best and brightest business people gathered to recognise those who have excelled in their fields.
The LMBA is held in the newly renovated Brisbane city hall, which looked amazing on the night. What a fantastic venue it is.
Something I realised leading into this job is that my peer network of fellow commercial photographers isn’t as well established as it could be. This job needed at least one other photographer, maybe even two.
I contacted a lovely guy named Jeremy Veitch, who is also an excellent Brisbane commercial photographer. We hit it off and he came along to support on the shoot. In addition, Matt Paul, a good friend and up and coming photographer, joined the team.
The brief was this: cover the feel of the night, the people, the room, the speeches and the awardees. We all shot some candids and then I handled the stage stuff, Jeremy ran a small studio set up/media wall for portraits and Matt was in a sniper position getting long range stuff.
The night was a success all around, and we captured great images across all aspects of the brief. I was really pleased with how Jeremy and Matt worked and conducted themselves. You boys rocked, I really appreciate it.
A final shout out to Brisbane Marketing who organised the event and had me along. We’ve worked on a number of different shoots this year. I really like working with you guys and look forward to continuing that in 2017.
Dean these photos are spectacular, I love the variety of shots and the feel of the people in them – I would like to have a look through City Hall it looks like an amazing building and the quality of workmanship would be great to see.
Thanks for checking it out Christine. I love shooting people, they’re my favourite subject. Buildings are pretty awesome to shoot too.
